A New Lump to the Collection
I was hoping my cancer story had stopped, but possibly not π

December 11 2021
I had really bad swelling for quite a while after my 1st operation in 2018, most of this eventually went down but I was left with lymphoedema especially on top of neck, chin and a bit in by bottom lip and cheek.
I had treatment for this from a great lymphoedema specialist ay Myton Hospice in Warwick and apart from always feeling like I have a thick bottom lip it hasn’t really bothered me.
2 or 3 weeks ago though I noticed a different lump/swelling lower down my neck on the same side as where I had my operation.
I say lump, it was more like muscle, only appeared if I flexed in certain positions and thought I had similar on the other side but the lump on my right side was far more prominent because that side of my face/neck is so much thinner after having my neck dissection.
I tried feeling for the lump a few days later, couldn’t find anything so didn’t do anything.
A week or so later I noticed it again but again it felt similar to other side and would only really show if I tensed in certain positions like a muscle, so assumed that’s what it was.
Last weekend I was doing some gardening involving some really physical work digging up a small tree with quite a few roots and replanting it.
I was quite out of breath for a while and later that evening I noticed the lump was more prominent, about the same diameter as an egg, flat though, wasn’t painful and moved about.
I didn’t do anything on Monday, but on Tuesday was experience little tinges in my chest so phoned my CNS support team at UHCW Coventry
They asked me to take some photos and email them with a description of lump and how I was feeling and they would pass it on to my consultant.
They also recommended I speak to my own GP
That evening I completed an Online consultation on my GP’s website, the next day my doctor phones, asked a few questions and booked me an appointment for half hour later.
I went along to see the doctor, she checked my chest out and all was fine, I told her about the strenuous work I had been doing and hoped it was just related to that and not the lump.
She then had a good feel of my neck, didn’t really say anything but said she would get me booked in for an Ultrasound and chest Xray at Warwick
I hadn’t heard anything back from my consultant or team at UHCW but this morning got an appointment through for Friday 17th December almost 3 years to the day since my last operation
It’s fingers crossed and patience now before we know whether the 2nd round of my fight begins.
